Setting up recurring research

How account owners turn on scheduled research, create schedules, and read schedule statuses.

Recurring research runs on a schedule, so new challenges keep arriving without anyone starting a run. Account owners manage schedules in Settings → Recurring research. Members can see the schedules but can't change them.

Turn it on. Select Enable scheduled research. Turning it off later pauses every schedule. Manual research from the Challenges page still works either way.

Create a schedule.

  1. Select New schedule.

  2. Choose where each run should look: Our organisation or Ecosystem search.

  3. Give the schedule a name.

  4. Choose How often: daily, weekly, every 2 weeks, every 30 days, every 90 days, or a custom number of hours between 6 hours and 90 days.

  5. Choose the time it runs and your time zone. Weekly schedules also ask which day.

  6. Add what to research. Add more than one focus to rotate them: each run uses the next one in order.

  7. Choose at least one domain and at least one place.

  8. Optionally tick Include updates to existing content to look for newer evidence on challenges this schedule has already found.

Each schedule shows its next run and last success. Its label shows its state:

Label

Meaning

Active

Running on schedule

Paused

No runs until you select Resume

Failing

Recent runs failed. The card shows how many in a row

Exhausted

Seven runs in a row found nothing new. Try a different focus, domain or place

Deleting a schedule stops future runs. Challenges it already found are kept. Every finding is reviewed by the CommonSource team first, typically within 2–3 working days.
